1. Decorate the front door
The door is the first thing people see when they enter your home, so greet your guests with beautiful Christmas decorations to give them that holiday cheer as their first impression. You can use tree branches, wreaths, ribbons, tinsel and ornaments to create a lovely and inexpensive arch for your front door.
2. Christmas Scents
The next thing that is sure to give your Christmas guests that holiday feel as they enter your home, is a resonating Christmas scent. There are various ways to give your home a lovely aroma, such as by: baking cinnamon cookies; simmering a pot of water with vanilla, spices and oranges or wrapping your candles with an array of cinnamon sticks.
3. Surprise Gifts
Not all presents need to be relegated directly under the tree each year. Wrap a few small gifts and trinkets in festive wrapping paper and nestle them inconspicuously into the branches of the Christmas tree. This way, your family can gradually open small gifts that they find in the tree throughout the day, making Christmas more exciting - especially for the kids.

Whilst small decorations throughout the house can add to the festive cheer, one dramatic centerpiece can help you achieve all of the Christmas winter-wonderland aspirations you had for your home. Decorate a large, old fashioned three-tiered cake stand with candies, cakes, biscuits, mugs filled with tinsel and reindeer ornaments. You can place this on your dining table or coffee table in order to excite and impress your Christmas guests.
5. Finishing Touches
There are a handful of small decorations you can add to side tables, shelves, and staircases to give your home the finishing touches for a fantastic Christmas day. Fill a few clear vases with colourful Christmas baubles and place them on side tables throughout your home. Place five or six Christmas stockings filled with assorted treats and trinkets along the staircase. Buy a handful of boxes of biscuits and chocolates, wrap them up like gifts and place them throughout your home for your family to open on Christmas. Thank your guests for attending by placing a brown paper gift bag on each chair. Dress up each gift bag with ribbons and fill with holiday candies such as: red and white lollipops and peppermints.
Christmas is meant to be a joyous time of year spent with friends and family around the dinner table.
